Course Descriptions

UNOH Yoga Studio Beginner Yoga (Monday 10:00 - 11:00a.m.), Instructor: Susan McCain
This class welcomes everyone but focuses on those new to Yoga. Learn the important principles of how movement and breathing should be done in asanas (postures) so that you may derive all the benefits that Yoga has to offer. Susan addresses individual modifications and teaches in an unhurried, introspective pace, that creates a space for the development of self-awareness.

Beginner/Intermediate (Monday 5:30 - 6:30p.m.), Instructor: Melinda Morgret
This class is suitable for beginners or for the more experienced. Instructor, Melinda shows many modifications throughout the class and encourages everyone to practice within their own ability. This class includes quiet time (Savasana) at the end of the practice to give each participant time for relaxation.

Beginner Yoga (Monday 6:45 - 7:45p.m.), Instructor: Melinda Morgret
This class welcomes everyone, but especially focuses on those new to yoga. This class teaches the basics of yoga, including breathing, poses and relaxation. Modifications demonstrated and encouraged. Enjoy the gentle stretches, and traditional yoga poses in a non-competitive environment. Everyone is encouraged to practice within their own abilities. Class ends with a final relaxation period to complete your practice for the day.

Beginners II Yoga (Tuesday 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.), Instructor: Cheryl Steinwedel
The Hatha Beginners II class is for people new to yoga or people who have yoga experience but prefer the slower pace of this class. It includes yoga poses (asanas), breathing practices (pranayama), and relaxation (Savasana). This class is perfect for those who need to relax and let go of stress, want to increase strength and flexibility, and want to learn how to breathe properly. To take this class, you must be able to get down to and up from the floor. This class ends with a 15 minute relaxation.

UN-102 Intro to Hatha Yoga (Tuesday 7 p.m.), Instructor: Melinda Morgret

UN-102 Intro to Hatha Yoga is an Accredited University course. Sign up with the University Registrar, located in the 200 building or online at MyUNOH. Receive one full credit toward your degree at UNOH.

Intermediate Yoga (Thursday 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.), Instructor: Cheryl Steinwedel
The Intermediate class is appropriate for you if you have completed the Hatha Beginners II course or have equivalent yoga experience. This class includes yoga poses (asanas), breathing practices (pranayama), and relaxation (Savasana). The Intermediate Class moves at a much faster pace offering a more active, physically challenging form of yoga. If you have yoga experience, appreciate a faster paced activity, want to let go of the mind and jump into the body, and continue on your yoga journey…then this class is for you. This class ends with a 15 minute relaxation.

Saturday Beginner Yoga (Saturday 8:00 - 9:00 a.m.), Instructor: Melinda Morgret
This "Welcome to the Weekend" class is a beginner's style class, but is appropriate for everyone. An awesome way to start the day and get your intentions set for a great weekend. The class includes gentle stretches to awaken the body, peaceful movements to bring your energy sources to the present moment, and end with a relaxation/meditation.

Saturday Beginner/Intermediate (Saturday 9:15 - 10:15 a.m.), Instructor: Melinda Morgret
Melinda's Saturday class incorporates what beginner and intermediates learn and mix it into a quicker paced workout. This class is in the Ashtanga tradition. It will help burn calories along with toning muscles and building strength. This practice is followed by deeper stretches and the final relaxation period (Shavasana).

All classes (Except UNOH Accredited Course on EVEN/ODD Days) are $5.00 per class when you register and prepay for 8 week session. Space is limited to 15 per class. Drop-ins are welcome at $7.00 per class if not full.

The yoga studio is equipped with everything you need for class…Yoga Mats, Straps, Blocks, Blankets and Eye Pillows for Relaxation. Classes will include Yoga Postures(Asanas), Yoga Breathing (Pranayama), Relaxation (Savasana), and Meditation.



UNOH Offers Private and Semi-Private Yoga Sessions

Traditionally Yoga was not a group activity but was taught from a master to an individual. This method helped individuals enhance health and wellness at all levels of a person: physical, psychological, and spiritual. This therapeutic process of balancing would guide a person on their specific path to wholeness. UNOH now offers an opportunity to enjoy these same practices and benefits.

Who can benefit from Private Sessions?
- Those who wish to advance and deepen their understanding of asana (poses) or concepts learned in a Yoga class.
- Persons with specific needs such as health issues, emotional overload, or are in a de-conditioned state.
- Those who wish to set personal goals or develop a strong, consistent personal practice that addresses their specific needs.
- Individuals that would like to deepen their journey of self exploration working through the five dimensions of existence (koshas) in a non judgmental and safe environment.
- Persons that are interested in Ayurvedic principles and their applications.
- Learn coping skills for stressful times.
