Course Descriptions

"Follow the path of self-discovery through Yoga. Develop a strong, flexible body and mind free of chaotic thoughts through a regular practice of Yoga."

UNOH Yoga Studio Intermediate (Monday 5:30 - 6:30p.m.), Instructor: Amy Wildermuth
If you are ready to expand your yoga practice beyond the basic poses and are comfortable doing these poses, then you will benefit from this intermediate class. Participants must have prior yoga experience and have a good understanding of a variety of poses. Class members will be challenged to try different poses and variations of the basic poses to develop their practice. Modifications will still be offered to everyone! Class will end with a final relaxation for the mind to compliment the prior work of the body.

Beginner Yoga (Monday 6:45 - 7:45 p.m.), Instructor: Amy Wildermuth
This class welcomes everyone, but especially focuses on those new to yoga. This class teaches the basics of yoga, including breathing, poses and relaxation. Modifications demonstrated and encouraged. Enjoy the gentle stretches, and traditional yoga poses in a non-competitive environment. Everyone is encouraged to practice within their own abilities. Class ends with a final relaxation period to complete your practice for the day.

Beginners II Yoga (Tuesday 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.), Instructor: Cheryl Steinwedel
The Hatha Beginners II class is for people new to yoga or people who have yoga experience but prefer the slower pace of this class. It includes yoga poses (asanas), breathing practices (pranayama), and relaxation (Savasana). This class is perfect for those who need to relax and let go of stress, want to increase strength and flexibility, and want to learn how to breathe properly. To take this class, you must be able to get down to and up from the floor. This class ends with a 15 minute relaxation.

Intermediate Yoga (Thursday 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.), Instructor: Cheryl Steinwedel
The Intermediate class is appropriate for you if you have completed the Hatha Beginners II course or have equivalent yoga experience. This class includes yoga poses (asanas), breathing practices (pranayama), and relaxation (Savasana). The Intermediate Class moves at a much faster pace offering a more active, physically challenging form of yoga. If you have yoga experience, appreciate a faster paced activity, want to let go of the mind and jump into the body, and continue on your yoga journey…then this class is for you. This class ends with a 15 minute relaxation.

Pilates Beginner/Intermediate Matwork (Thursday 6:45-7:45 p.m.), Instructor: Allison Dye
This Mat Pilates class is a classical based core strengthening system designed to promote healthy, pain free living by strengthening and realigning the body. Noticeable improvement in strength, stamina, flexibility, posture, and control are all commonly gained from Pilates work. The class is respectful of the original exercise system created by Joseph H. Pilates but also incorporates a contemporary approach based on current therapeutic research to allow the safest, most effective workout. This class is a challenging core workout, and participants must have a base level of fitness, be able to get up and down from the floor, and not have any current spinal injury or acute back pain.

Pilates Beginner Matwork (Saturday 10:15-11:15 a.m.), Instructor: Allison Dye
This technique class is for those new to Pilates, and for those who want to deepen their understanding of the principles of Matwork. This class is taught in "pure" form a specific sequence to promote perfect understanding of the pilates method. This class will also prepare your body for intermediate level exercises. This class requires the ability to get up and down from the floor and kneel without pain. You should not be experiencing any current spinal injury or acute pain.

All Yoga and Pilates classes are $5.00 per class when you register and prepay for 10 week session. Space is limited to 15 per class. Drop-ins are welcome at $8.00 per class if not full.

The yoga studio is equipped with everything you need for class…Yoga Mats, Straps, Blocks, Blankets and Eye Pillows for Relaxation.
